REV. JOELYNN T. STOKES

Joelynn is an ordained Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She currently serves as a member of the ministerial staff at Bethel AME Church, Detroit.

Prior to calling her into the ministry, God began preparing Joelynn for His service directing her to deepen her spiritual knowledge. Being obedient, she obtained a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies with a concentration in Biblical Studies from the University of Detroit-Mercy.

Joelynn serves on the Detroit Advisory Board of Ashland Theological Seminary. In addition, she provides emotional and spiritual counseling services to individuals and families in conflict. She also presents workshops on topics such as, maintaining Christianity in leadership positions, journaling for spiritual health, team ministries and finding God's peace within.

Joelynn's first love, however, is preaching God's word. She has received the distinct honor of having sermons selected for publication in The African American Pulpit and in New York Theological School's Living Pulpit. And God has graciously combined Joelynn's first love with her second love-traveling, giving her opportunities to preach in California, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Nassau Bahamas and throughout Michigan.

Joelynn is extremely thankful for what she has been able to accomplish in her ministry, but she hopes the most important thing you will remember about her is simply this…SHE IS A CHILD OF GOD!
